Charles Schwab Asset Management Solutions (SAMS) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and has over $500 billion under management in mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, multi-asset, asset allocation strategies, and money markets funds. The overall SAMS team is passionately committed to providing solutions that help Schwab clients achieve their financial goals.   The Investment Research Group includes Municipal and Taxable Research, as well as Risk, and Fiduciary Oversight. The Group is responsible for creating and implementing credit policies, establishing risk parameters and monitoring regulatory and internal guidelines.   The Municipal Research Group is responsible for analyzing credit across the municipal investment-grade credit spectrum and the entire yield curve.  Our primary goal is to assess credit opportunities in the municipal space for the Schwab money-market funds, bond funds, and ETFs. This includes reviewing primary and secondary market opportunities across all municipal sectors and maturities, assigning internal ratings with written supporting documentation for positions of interest, making buy/sell recommendations for those positions, monitoring those holdings for changes in credit quality and staying abreast of issues in the municipal market which could impact our positions, as well as representing Schwab at industry events. As a senior member of the credit team, this role will include working with junior members of the team, to include training them in new sectors and serving as their sounding board in the analytical process.

Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) seeks to recruit an experienced investment professional to serve as an analyst on the Investment Manager Research team. We are passionately committed to providing solutions that help Schwab clients achieve their financial goals!   This analyst will contribute to the research of the fixed income universe and research activities for externally-managed and sub-advised fixed income strategies. Additionally, this person will work closely with the senior fixed income analyst, CIO of Fixed Income, the broader fixed income team and the multi-asset portfolio management teams. This role will analyze and oversee existing external managers, identify and select new managers, maintain up to date knowledge of the investment landscape, and support ongoing monitoring and reporting as required. This analyst will employ a judgment to evaluate investment managers on both qualitative and quantitative factors and present robust analysis to investment committees to achieve broad support for the recommendation.

The Schwab Center for Financial Research is responsible for researching, packaging, and delivering investing, financial planning, and wealth management research and insights at the right time, in the right format and supporting partners to develop training, tools, product, and communications to deliver research and insights to clients.   The Director – Research – Financial Planning & Wealth Management for the Schwab Center of Financial Research (SCFR) will propose and execute a thought leadership agenda around the follow planning and wealth management topics:   - Basic financial planning, behavioral finance, and reasons for planning - Banking, budgeting, and cash-flow management - Investment planning - Retirement planning (both saving for and in retirement) - Risk management and insurance (including annuities) - Estate planning (partnering with Schwab's estate planning team) - Tax planning (including tax-efficient investing partnering with SCFR Director – Tax Planning)   The Director will support and help grow Schwab's financial planning and wealth management business by identifying key financial planning and wealth management topics and strategies of interest to Schwab advice-providing reps and clients. The director will report to the Vice President – Financial Planning, Retirement Income, and Wealth Management for SCFR to do the following:   - Research agenda. Survey and identify key issues in financial planning and wealth management of interest to Schwab reps and clients. - Research execution. Identify opportunities to package, communicate, or extend research to provide thought leadership, advice, and strategies to help clients. - Publish thought leadership. Draft and deliver insights on selected planning and wealth management topics and strategies, to help turn insights into action. - Educating reps and the public. Package and create a curriculum of financial planning and wealth management topics focused on insight and strategies to use with clients. - Support Schwab tools and products. Serve as a subject matter expert to help deliver planning using Schwab Planning Tools (MoneyGuidePro) and Schwab wealth management solutions and products.   Sample research and advice questions could include:   - Are there quantifiable benefits from having a financial plan and if so what are they? - What can be learn from research in behavioral finance to engage clients in planning? - How should planners explain Monte Carlo simulation when presenting a financial plan? - How can a client make sure that their savings last in retirement? - Should individuals consider permanent life (cash value) policy instead of term life policy? - What strategies can clients use and can you quantify the benefits of tax-smart investing? - What estate planning steps should high net worth clients consider and why?   Go to schwab.com/Insights for samples of retail commentary.   In addition, the director will write and deliver advanced research, insights, memos, training, and content to be used by Schwab Financial Consultants (FCs), Planning Specialists (IPCs), Private Client Advisors (PCAs) and Wealth Strategists (WSG.)
