Do you want to be part of an enterprise data solutions delivery team managing over 150+ terabytes of data and building the next-generation analytics platform for a leading financial firm with over $3.2 trillion in assets under management? At Schwab, the Data & Rep Technology (DaRT) organization owns the strategy, implementation, delivery, and support of the enterprise data warehouse and emerging data platforms.

 

We are looking for a seasoned, hands-on Sr. Manager of Software Development Engineering in Test (SDET) who will manage the DaRT Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) team and enable DaRT to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks, and oversight.

As a Senior Manager, you’ll serve as a strong and versatile hands-on technical leader. You will lead a team of Quality Assurance Data Engineers supporting DaRT data delivery teams. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

You will build strong and highly functional partnerships with the DaRT leadership team and delivery teams. Our ideal candidate is a servant leader who can lead multiple parallel initiatives – big and small – with attention to detail, manages outcomes, is passionate about CI/CD/DevOps/Software Quality Engineering, and has experience managing resources across disparate locations including offshore.

What you have

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience in working on large scale data integration projects
  • Experience testing Data Warehouse, ETL, and Big Data environments and have defined test approaches for testing data warehouse projects
  • Experience in creating testing strategies and engineering best practices related to software test engineering, both manual and automated testing
  • 12+ years of experience in Quality Engineering and management roles
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in the development, execution, and maintenance of automated test scripts
  • Experience in managing test environments, databases, test data setup/management for data development teams
  • Demonstrated ability to define, drive, and communicate strategy and vision and influence across the organization is essential
  • Ability to inspire and influence teams effectively and partner in delivering technology-enabled business solutions that exceed business expectations
  • Hands-on coding experience in Python or Java or any other object-oriented programming language
  • Experience with Jenkins, Bamboo, GIT, Bit bucket, etc.
  • Understanding and implementation of CI/CD/Dev Ops practices, lean methodologies
  • Experience with multiple automation tools such as Selenium Web Driver and grid/Watir, cucumber, NUNIT/JUNIT/TESTNG, etc.
  • Experience with Agile and SWAT/Kanban development practices
  • Hands-on experience with Web services virtualization, mocking, and stubbing
  • Proven experience as a leader/trainer in a large, complex QA organization, with a demonstrated ability to implement scalable automation solutions
  • Proven experience driving innovative testing solutions within a complex, enterprise platform
  • Experience working with resources in different geographical locations and offshore vendors
  • Experience in API test automation, UI automation using Sause labs, Selenium, or any other open-source automation tools
  • End-to-end performance testing guidance, oversight, and resourcing for defined, funded initiatives

Highly Preferable

  • Experience in setting up Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE)
  • Experience in testing Big Data, working with Informatica and Talend ETL tools and Teradata Data Warehouse
  • Experience writing complex SQL statements and PL/SQL code to test data flow and perform data analysis
  • Experience in testing Data Warehouse/Big Data in the cloud environment, preferably in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • General PC knowledge, including Microsoft Office with expert level knowledge of Excel, working knowledge of QA testing software, QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
