Your Opportunity

The Deposits and Margin Strategy and Analytics team is responsible for product analytics related to deposits and margin, for Charles Schwab Bank and for the brokerage Charles Schwab and Co. Inc.

 

The team consists of people with data science and econometrics/statistical backgrounds as well as some with more traditional strategy or consulting/finance backgrounds.

 

We are seeking a Managing Director of Cash Strategy and Analytics. This role is responsible for driving strategy, analytics, forecasting, pricing and other work related primarily to Schwab’s sweep deposits (uninvested cash in brokerage accounts) which are the largest category of deposits at Schwab.

What you are good at

The Managing Director’s responsibilities will include data-motivated diagnostics of deposits, cash balance forecasting, deposit pricing analysis, regulatory analysis, and business strategy recommendations related to cash. This position is hands-on: the MD should be skilled technically and is expected to be actively involved with their staff in preparing analyses, reports and recommendations.

 

This role has a broad scope and the MD traditionally acts as a primary firm-wide subject matter authority and resource related to decisions about sweep deposits at Schwab.

 

Individuals must have good partnership and collaboration skills as work typically requires a coordinated effort with team members and cross-functional business partners, including Planning, Treasury, Enterprise Finance, and the Sweep Product Team. Members of the team who are highly successful demonstrate the ability to combine solid data analysis skills with critical thinking.

What you have

In addition to soft skills, technical skills should include, at a minimum, high proficiency in Excel, facility with SQL, strong Powerpoint skills, and the ability to communicate data-focused insights. Beyond that, all of the following possible backgrounds are pluses and will be considered as part of the overall talent mix on the team:

  • Statistical programming in R or Python.
    • While it is not strictly necessary to have a statistical modeling background in this role, the MD should be confident collaborating with members of the broader team which includes econometric modelers
  • Direct previous experience with deposit or margin products
  • Banking or finance background
  • Tableau or other data visualization tools
  • Computer science background
  • Business strategy background
  • Other evidence of ability to think and communicate using data.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree and preferred, a post-grad degree; Ph.d, a plus but is not required.

Colorado Compensation
Target Total Compensation - 135,600 - 249,900.
