Your Opportunity

Charles Schwab's Retail Strategy, Planning and Operations is the internal management consulting group for the Retail business, which is the primary business unit at Schwab and has 13,000 employees worldwide. Retail Strategy, Planning and Operations serves as a trusted adviser to the head of the Retail business and the Retail Leadership Team and works on strategic and operational issues at the top of senior management's agenda. Our team of roughly 20 professionals is a premier pipeline for diverse and high potential talent, and alumni include senior leaders across the entire firm.

Retail Strategy, Planning and Operations serves two primary functions:

  1. assisting with strategic decisions for the Retail Leadership Team, and 2) supporting the operational and business planning needs of the Retail Leadership Team.

This opening is for the Retail Strategy function. Typical projects include growth strategy, market assessment and entry evaluation, M&A and divestiture strategy, and operating model / organizational design.

What you are good at

  • We are seeking a Manager who will drive high priority strategy projects. As a Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Refine your problem solving, communication, and leadership skills in an environment of mentorship and coaching
    • Work alongside dynamic, motivated, and intellectually curious colleagues from top consulting firms and leading undergraduate and MBA programs
    • Cultivate strong relationships with business leaders across the firm to drive strategic alignment and support the transition from recommendation to implementation
    • Gain visibility within the firm's senior leadership
    • Advance to other roles throughout the company
    • Benefit from minimal travel and a hybrid work environment

What you have

  • 2+ years of work experience preferably with a top-tier consulting firm, financial services firm, Strategy group at a large organization, or in investment banking
  • Prior experience in financial services including experience with financial markets, products, technology and/or the fee-based investment advisory market preferred, but not required
  • Superior analytical skills, research capabilities and attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
  • Ability to work across several projects concurrently
  • Strong and demonstrated teaming skills, especially in cross-functional teams
  • Comfort in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Strong sense of urgency and proactiveness
  • Advanced capabilities in MS Excel and PowerPoint
