Your Opportunity

Core Technology Solution (CTS) Cross Initiative Implementation team is responsible for leading a coordinated technology approach to developing and maintaining applications within Schwab’s primary Core Services.  Our vision is to champion innovation and optimal technology enabled business capabilities.

We're looking for a talented Solutions Architect to lead initiatives that cross Core Technology Solution department boundaries and vary in nature. This is an opportunity to work on the next generation of Services and be a part of a cutting edge team respected for their products, services and client satisfaction.  The engineer will also support large conversion efforts.

What you are good at

  • Leading and collaborating with team members (Development, Product Owners, QA, other technology partners) in designing, developing technical solutions, implementing best practices and efficiencies that optimize the organization’s ability to meet stakeholder needs
  • Participating in the proactive identification of product/system enhancements which may improve tool appeal, process flow, and overall functionality and performance
  • Striving for high quality and rapid output through the use of agile software development best practices and collaborative sessions (code reviews, white boarding, etc.)
  • Maintaining coding, compliance, and security standards (including documenting functionality/recovery instructions)
  • Supporting Architecture governance and Infrastructure currency, infrastructure optimization and conversion activities

What you have

  • 3+ years of experience in Financial Services Industry preferred
  • 7+ years of experience with running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies using Agile (Scrum/Kanban) processes in planning, implementation and support of business application components, including change & release management
  • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail & the ability to design, execute & maintain strategic goals & metrics. Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology & trends, domain knowledge and experience in infrastructure support, application development, and database admin; including: client/server, web services, portal, middleware, operating systems, databases, networking, security & business intelligence.
  • Strong knowledge of software development, testing, maintenance and support
  • Proven experience developing and implementing web-enabled/cloud-based applications (experience in the technologies in our stack highly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of/experience in event-driven application development, session state management, web configuration and deployment strategies, security and performance tuning, and debugging methodologies
  • Effective time management; must be able to prioritize and multi-task effectively
  • High enthusiasm to learn and contribute actively in an agile environment; you are a team player, self-motivated, and able to work collaboratively across organizations and geographic locations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field highly preferred
