In Corporate Operational Risk, our purpose is to govern, oversee, and continually improve the operational risk program by supporting and providing effective challenge to business partners, and raising risk awareness and understanding to improve risk based decision making. We look to minimize operational risk impacts across all of the firm and its subsidiaries and affiliates. Data Risk Management seeks to lead operational risk management efforts, in collaboration with the first-line Business organizations, by providing a holistic view of data risk and maturity at the firm relating to how the firm handles one of our most important assets, our data. This is an individual contributor role!

 

What you’re good at

Reporting to Sr. Team Manager of Data Risk Management within the Corporate Operational Risk department of Charles Schwab, the successful data risk professional will be responsible for executing regular and repeatable processes in support of identification and governance of data risk at the Firm. They will collaborate with other members of the Data Risk Management Team and business partners to execute upon initiatives that work to better inform the data risk profile for the firm.    

Activities will include:

  • Apply established Data Concepts to review and analysis of data risks through New Products and Services Review and Project Delivery Approach processes;
  • Perform assessments of data risks and review of Risk Questionnaires for new and existing Vendor relationships in partnership with Corporate Vendor Management and Third Party Risk Management;
  • Maintain and manage Data Risk Management documentation including inventory of Products and Projects status, Vendor engagements, evidence of controls execution; Project Plan, etc.;
  • Provide back-up and assistance as needed in support of cross-functional Data Risk Management Team responsibilities, including but not limited to Risk and Control Self Assessments review and oversight, monitoring and change management, and data collection and reporting;   
  • Participate in quarterly assessments of the maturity of the Data Risk Management Program;
  • Perform additional projects and tasks as assigned.

What you have

  • The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Business Competencies:

  • Two (2+) years experience in a role as a key member of a project team;
  • Independent judgment with strong analytical skills;
  • Self-motivated, methodical, and detailed work behavior;
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to connect with different business partners;
  • Experience in an environment where demands and methods are consistently evolving;
  • Ability to manage and execute against multiple initiatives;
  • Bachelor degree required.
