  • Your Opportunity

    The Broker-Dealer Accounting team is part of the Corporate Controller’s department and is responsible for the financial books and records of subsidiaries within Charles Schwab Corporation. This includes accounting for the broker-dealers’ balance sheet, income statement, and month-end reporting. Functions of broker-dealer accounting team include: recording income statement and balance sheet transactions, general ledger reconciliations, monthly, quarterly, annual close and analysis, and ad hoc related financial reporting.

    What you’re good at

    • Perform accounting duties as assigned to assist the team in maintaining the accounting books and records of several international subsidiaries
    • Analyze general ledger and sub-ledger account activity
    • Prepare and record monthly and quarterly journal entries
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare related documentation
    • Prepare quarterly reporting that is used in financial reporting and regulatory reports
    • Perform research to support business partners, auditors and/or regulator inquiries
    • Assist with special projects
    • Maintain process documentation
    • Execute internal controls to ensure a SOX compliant control environment

    What you have

    • 3 - 5 years of related accounting experience
    • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
    • Solid understanding of GAAP
    • Highly proficient in excel
    • Familiar with the capabilities of large-company enterprise reporting systems
    • Strong attention to detail and supporting documentation
    • Proactive, results-oriented operating style
    • Ability to identify issues and seek resolutions
    • Efficient time management skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication and collaborating skills
    • PeopleSoft Financials experience a plus
    • Public company and/or public accounting experience a plus
    • Financial services industry experience a plus
    • Foreign currency accounting experience a plus
    • CPA preferred
