  • Your Opportunity

    Within the Operational Services enterprise, the Business Process Transformation team is a cross-functional group helping to drive transformation across Operational Services and the broader firm. We are responsible for protecting and safeguarding the assets of the firm and our clients while continuing to increase scalability and efficiency. As the Senior Managing Director, Transformation, you lead transformative initiatives critical to Operations’ Smart Processing strategy. This role will have the opportunity to lead highly visible Ops-wide programs and projects having enterprise impact.

    You serve as a strategic partner for senior leaders while prioritizing initiatives, developing roadmaps and implementing programs. This role provides thought leadership and direction across the firm in strategy, transformation, change management, value creation, and performance measurement.

    As a critical enabler of the Operations Smart Processing strategy, this role will drive transformative change, improve business outcomes and support the leadership team in implementing integrated standard methodologies.

    What you’re good at

    Program Management

    • Orchestrate the continued rollout of our approach to prioritization and planning incorporating collaborative decision-making and measurable value-driven roadmaps.  Specifically leading a quarterly process to facilitate alignment across 25+ major cross enterprise projects.
    • Take ownership for standing up a new methodology to drive collaboration of business and technology resources as they determine preliminary solution design for initiatives proposed for strategic roadmaps.
    • Partner with the BPT and Ops leadership to refine program vision, strategy, goals and priorities for strategic roadmap development across the enterprise.

    Change Leadership

    • Influence transformative change across Ops by envisioning an ideal future state and driving the changes required to get there.
    • Foster a culture of fact-based decision-making, transparency, agility and value creation.
    • Provide thought leadership and direction across the firm in key disciplines of change management and planning at scale.

    Strategy Execution

    • Develop and mature planning processes, tools, and forums to ensure successful implementation of our strategy.
    • Work with stakeholders across the organization to ensure the coordination and support required to deliver value.
    • Partner with stakeholders to build fact-based business cases and advance these proposals through the planning processes to enable coordinated delivery.

    Team Leadership

    • Lead change agents analysts and program management resources responsible for driving transformation initiatives.
    • Drive process, content and business impact for large, complex projects.
    • Serve on the BPT Leadership team and provide input and support for the continuing evolution of the organization.

    What you have

    • 12+ years’ work experience in strategy and large scale transformation, preferably with a consulting firm or within the financial services industry.
    • Track record of driving multi-discipline, multi-level teams to deliver exceptional results including senior technical resources at the Director and Managing Director level.
    • Ability to run complex planning processes across a number of in-flight initiatives, and to lead a portfolio of multi-threaded projects/work streams.
    • Drive strategy process including structured, hypothesis-driven problem solving, framework development, and formulation of actionable recommendations.
    • Experience catalyzing change and leading major components of an organizational transformation initiative, including strategy, structure, methods, resources/skills, etc. and where technology was the driver of solving a business problem.
    • Strong influencing, coaching and mentoring skills; proven success in building credibility and strong relationships with peers and key stakeholders (typically at a VP and SVP level).
    • Deep competencies as well as broad base technology knowledge, knowledge of Schwab’s core businesses, strategy and planning know-how to set a vision in a highly innovative and rapidly changing technology environment.  Partnerships with internal technology partners at the VP level to align leadership on the vision and coordinate roadmaps across organizations.
    • Expertise in and validated application success implementing Agile, Lean, journey mapping, design thinking and other process optimization/innovation frameworks.
    • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences.
    • Exemplary business intuition and judgment to help the team translate analytical inputs and metrics, platform architecture and business needs into value-creating initiatives.
    • Experience in financial services with back-office operations preferred.
