Schwab Retirement Plan Services provides third party recordkeeping and retirement plan administration to midsized and large employers nationwide. We provide clients with support in defined contribution, defined benefit, non-qualified arenas. The ERISA Consulting Department is responsible for providing direct support to sponsors, prospects and their consultants /counsel in areas including industry trends, plan design, and regulatory & fiduciary mentorship. The department partners closely with the Client Service and Relationship Management teams to enthusiastically support the client and drive a strategic approach with sponsors and their benefit programs.
The position is a Sr. ERISA Consultant in our ERISA Compliance & Consulting group for the Austin Texas or Phoenix Arizona locations.
Plan Consulting: Provide technical and design consulting in DC Plan Design, New Comparability Plan Design, DC/DB Hybrid, Non-qualified Plan Arrangements, ESOP / Stock Design, Controlled Group / QSLOB Design, Multi-Benefit Plan Arrangements, etc.
Execution: Proactive planning and collaboration with both ERISA consulting team and internal servicing teams. This will determine potential strategic opportunities with sponsors, to assess and settle on the type of consultative support needed to reach specific goals. Successful execution of strategy often requires longer term planning with multiple touchpoints with internal team and clients.
Mentor and Develop People: Provide regular mentoring to internal compliance and consulting staff as we act as internal partners in areas of ERISA and design expertise. The Consultant will also assist in development of successful strategic action plans, and effective communication and engagement strategies.
This position requires experience in the qualified retirement plan industry, 8+ years encouraged. This includes significant experience in providing ERISA Compliance, plan design and fiduciary consulting directly with large plans and their committees. Sales experience is preferred. The candidate must have a strong dedication to the highest level of client service, and validated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners. Position requires detailed knowledge of IRS & DOL Code and Regulations. Experience with ESOP and non-qualified plan design opportunities preferred. You must have experience with cross testing! Consultation with firms with new comparability design, experience with professional services firms, and committee presentation experience, required.
